PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
French Immersion provides students with opportunities to acquire and maintain language skills in French and English.

LATE FRENCH IMMERSION

Late French Immersion provides students in Grade 7 with opportunities to acquire and maintain language skills in French and English.

INTERNATIONAL SPANISH ACADEMY
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The International Spanish Academy is a bilingual program that provides students with opportunities to acquire and maintain language skills in Spanish and English. McKernan offers the continuation of this program for grade 7 to 9.

- Develop language and literacy skills in Spanish and English, and use both to communicate
- Learn about the cultures of Spanish-speaking countries

ELIGIBILITY
- To register in Grade 7, students will be transferring from an Elementary Spanish program.
- Students entering the program after Grade 1 are considered on an individual basis.
PRE-ADVANCED PLACEMENT
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Pre-Advanced Placement is an internationally recognized program that provides junior high students with academically rigorous programming.
GOALS
- Develop academic skills in a challenging learning environment
- Demonstrate personal responsibility, diligence and self-discipline
BENEFITS
- Improved ability to handle rigorous and advanced coursework
- Improved work and study skills
- Familiarity working at an accelerated pace
- Preparation for academic programming in Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate
